The ShowDown
It was a mid-summer day at my house in the desert. I was outside in the backyard shooting cans with my BB gun. Before long, one of my friends came over.
“What’s up man?”
“Nothing much, bro,” I replied
We began talking for about an hour or so. Shortly after that, we got bored.
“Dude, what are you doing?” he asked.
“Shooting cans.”
“Well…let’s shoot something.” He eyed one of my BB guns.
“Cool,” I said throwing him one of the rifles. Without delay, we both started to shoot a couple of cans. That got boring as well. Out of nowhere, an idea popped in my mind.
“Ah-ha!” I exclaimed.
“What?” he asked looking over at me.
“Let’s have a gun fight,” I grinned.
For a moment or two, I could see that he was thinking about it. I stood rigidly, like a pillar in a hallway, ready to draw my weapon. At last he agreed.
“Cool,” I said reloading my rifle. I took some extra ammo and went to take cover. At first, we both took a couple of shots at each other but missed, it was a stalemate. Then all of a sudden, I cried out, “GAHH!” A BB hit me on the face, almost striking my left eye.
“Dude, you ok?” he asked.
I could tell him that it hurt like H-LL, but I didn’t. Fortunately, there was only a little blood. Everything was fine after I washed it off. A little later, he left. So now after that experience, I always wear goggles when playing with a BB gun.
