It was about 5:00 in the morning when me and my uncle got to the box stand. It took another hour for the sun to start peaking out over the trees. That's when I heard a rustling in the trees to my left but it was almost right below me. I kept on thinking that it was a deer and that I would have to make a very bad shot.
Then I decided to peek over the edge and I looked down and saw a small blob on the ground that was moving. I squinted to get a better look to find out that it was a porcupine trying to get the leftover corn that was on the ground in the field.
It took not even 10 seconds later that I looked up and a deer started to creep out of the trees at the edge of the field. It was still dark enough that I could not see how many points were on his antlers but I could if I scoped in with my rifle. I grabbed the rifle with my hand and lifted it up as carefully as I could so as to not make a noise and looked through and saw that it only had four points which I passed on.
But after I had scoped in on the deer my uncle tapped me on my shoulder and pointed to his right. I looked and there was a mountain lion there. It started to slowly stalk the edge of the field even walking right under us.
Then as if a gunshot went off every animal there scattered. The deer who noticed the bobcat ducked back into the trees. The porcupine scurried to the other edge of the field. And the bobcat started running to where the deer went.
