Dear Diary, 

If there was one thing I couldn’t live without, it would probably be my phone. In today’s society the older generation would most likely roll their eyes at that answer but it is truly something I wouldn't be able to live without. I have had a phone since I was 12 and it has gathered much information through the years. It has been an important part of my life since then and it is something that, if destroyed in a fire, there are things I would never be able to get back. 

Nowadays, phones are a crucial part of communication and instant messaging. From the click of a button you can talk to someone from across the world in real time without having to write a letter that would take many days or over a week to send. The flow of conversations is much easier and I can maintain relationships with my friends without having to see them in person everyday. Something important to me is my relationships with people so being able to communicate with them all the time means a lot to me. When I moved from Oklahoma back to Wisconsin I was able to keep in touch with my friends. I am able to look at their social media and see what they are doing. 

Another reason my phone is so important is due to the fact all my photos are on there. I have memories from my whole life on there and if I didn’t have my phone, some of those photos would never be recovered again. I love looking back at memories and reminiscing about the good times. I also love looking back at baby pictures and laughing with my parents about the stories that go along with them. I get to live vicariously through my photos and remember fun vacations I have taken or fun nights with my friends. Photos are a way to freeze my memories. I have never been more thankful for the fact I get to do that. 

Lastly, there are so many different things my phone can do to keep me busy. I can watch netflix or disney plus when I’m bored. I can also read, which is something I like to do in my free time. 

Overall, my phone is an integral part of my life and something I don’t think I can live without.
