Americas flag
The flag is very important to me. I personally think The Pledge is needed to remember all of the people that have died in major events in the past. The American Flag has 50 stars to represent all of the States that are in The United States. On the American flag the white represents purity and innocence, while the red represents hardiness and valor. It also represents all of the blood that has been spilled from protecting our country. The 13 stripes that are on the flag represent all of the struggles.
My family celebrates on the 4th of July by going to parades and seeing our family. We only recite The Pledge of Allegiance when we are in school. When I am with my family or friends at a hockey game or a baseball game, I stand up for ‘the Star Spangled Banner’ and if I have a hat on I take it off because I believe that this is showing respect to celebrate our victory over the British forces in 1812. We see a lot of flags on the 4th of July because this is a very important day to celebrate as well as Veterans Day and Memorial day. We do not keep our flag up at night because we don’t have a light to shine on it at night, and this is disrespectful, so before night we have to take it down until we get a new light that we shine on it.
We celebrate on the 4th of July because this is when the Declaration of Independence was adopted. The Fourth of July celebrates the passage of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. We watch fireworks on this day because this is the day that the ship fired 13 gunshots to honor all of the 13 colonies and the sons of Liberty set off fireworks over Boston. They also represent all of the 13 original states.
