Whoosh, as the wind flies past my face, I hear the skidding of my skis across the rough ice. It Sounds as if a train is coming to a screeching stop. Before I even hit the bottom of the hill, Griffin yells “let's do another '' as we are slowly creeping up the ski lift, we turn to the next run. Without thinking we go, I ski down the Icy hill with the wind in my face weaving back and forth between the trees. My visions blurred from all the snow. Then suddenly I hit a mobile, my whole body spinning as I flew through the air.  Bam bam bam as I tumble down the hill. Suddenly it goes black and I wake up with people standing around me. Then I’m out again, my body can’t stay awake. I’m conscious now but aching and cold. As the ski patrol pulls my skis off I feel  immediate relief. But the pain isn’t gone , but better. As I get back to my full consciousness I realize that I’m seriously hurt and they are pulling me down in a medical sled. They take me to this medical room at Perfect North. When my mom gets here she rushes to the room and hugs me. She lets them know that they can take me to the hospital. When I arrived at the hospital I was completely immobile my right legs would not move even if I wanted to. In the hospital there was so much pain in my leg that they couldn’t even take my ski pants off. They asked my parents if they could cut them, my parents were hesitant because they were brand new but they knew it was the only way. In the hospital they said it was nothing serious but to come back in a couple days for an mri. On the day of the MRI I’m in a big room lying on a table with lots of machines surrounding me. They take the pictures and tell me to wait a few minutes then a group of doctors come in. When this really good doctor comes in he takes one look at the MRI scans and says “yep wrap him up”.  In my mind I was thinking I was just going to get a small knee brace I could still play baseball in, oh i so wrong they wrapped my whole legs from my foot to my waist. This is when I realize I won't be able to do a lot of stuff such as play baseball or even walk with crutches. There are so many other things that I took for granted that I can’t do anymore. Just  watching people be able to run and jump so easily made me question if I had appreciated those things in the past. I started realizing how much of a struggle it must be for people to be missing a leg for their whole life.  I started realizing how lucky I was to only have this cast for 6 months and not 1-2 maybe even three years. So as soon as I got my cast off I started to appreciate the little things that I couldn’t do while I was in a cast. All of this taught me to appreciate the little things and always know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. This quote from Chronicles 15:7 in the Bible  states “But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” Showing that being strong and living life to the fullest will always reward you.
