Dear Future Me
There are so many things that I would want to tell my future self if given the opportunity. The amount of advice I have received from others or things that I learned by myself from hitting rock bottom I would want my future self to hear it too.
I would remind myself that not everything is going to be perfect. Currently living in a life where I’ve pushed and pushed myself repeatedly to maintain the ideal life tore me down faster than I could get up. I became a surfer who let every wave swallow me up and I just reached the surface for air. I know that right now I’m only in junior year and I think this is stressful, but I would rather prepare myself now than be a lost puppy when I get to the real world. I would remind future me that I’m going to make more mistakes than I could ever imagine and instead of letting them ruin memorable moments I should take them with a grain of salt and learn what I could do differently instead.
Spontaneous. Such a strange word that recently just entered my vocabulary and my life. This word will impact my future because it has impacted my life currently. The best moments that I have experienced so far have not been planned and they happened because I got out of the flow of my usual routine. Letting my hair whip behind me when standing through the sunroof of a car, cliff jumping into deep mysterious waters, and knocking down all the pins at the end of the lane have made moments more memorable and it's all because of one word. Spontaneous. Yet, I would also remind myself I can have my fun, but to stay responsible. There is nothing you can do to turn back time if I give into peer pressure and turn spontaneous decisions into stupid ones.
I hope that my future self has been through enough to know this, but I would remind her that it’s ok to leave a relationship. There are people that I will meet that I think are one-of-a-kind, but I will get to decide for myself if that relationship is putting more stress on me than giving me enjoyment. I will want to try to work through it every single time there’s a problem, but if the problems become mountain high it’s ok to be selfish and walk away.
There will be even more advice that I will learn and want to tell myself in the future because I have many years left to grow and experience moments that I will want to avoid in the future. This advice will cause a stress-free life for myself and a life where I can focus on maintaining my happiness. The life that I have always wanted.

I decided to write this peice because there is so much advice that I wish I would've known now and I would want to share it with my future self.
