One day on a Sunday night after an exhausting weekend of hockey I realized that I still had my English essay to write. I also had the Gobbler (a hockey tournament) finals the next morning. My dad both cared about my school work and my sleep for the tournament the next morning. I needed to finish this essay in a reasonable amount of time. He knew that I was having a hard time starting and getting going with the start of my writing. After an hour in my bedroom, he came in only to see that I had written a paragraph. Immediately he gave me recommendations on how to start writing again. He had read the book before having insights on the topic. He taught me about the metaphor of communism with the pigs on the farm and the power the humans have over them. Along with this, he talks about hierarchies and other concepts. After teaching me the deeper meaning of the story I was able to write efficiently. The next hour of work blew by very quickly and I had gotten a lot done. However, I had gotten stuck again at the conclusion of my essay. He saw this and reminded me of what the meaning and the purpose of conclusions are. “Finish off the story strong and make the reader of your essay reflect on what you wrote about.”  Shortly later, I finished the essay and went to bed after an exhausting day. Why this act of kindness is important to me is because he took time out of his day to teach me an important lesson. The lesson is that there is always a way to work your way out of hard times in your life.
