camping trip
I remember when camping was my getaway, I felt so good and free while on my camping trips with my family and friends. Cricket Cricket.. I hear cicadas perched on the trees making their loud buzzing noise. The smell of bonfire goes on for miles, the sunset just a little after 8. I got out of my damp and wet swimsuit that I had on all day from swimming in the lake, then put on a fresh pair of sweatpants and a big sweatshirt. I slide on my birkenstocks before exiting my camper, the first step out is a fresh breeze of air, the fire flames getting higher and turning more red as it gets darker. The stars are as bright as ever, and the frogs start croaking, me and my family sit around the fire as time passes on like a switch. This was a ritual for my family. We did this every night we would camp, we would have family talks and be full of laughter and joy to just be all together. I would laugh and giggle so much sometimes my cheek bones would start to cramp and hurt. I remember how those nights made me feel, pure happiness. Everybody yawns and starts to get drowsy waiting to climb in bed, putting out the fire with a bottled water that's already been opened, the crickets stop chirping at once. We unplug the white Christmas lights hung upon the trees, “goodnight” everyone says before climbing into their cozy beds for a long night of rest and to do the same the next day.
