Pray and live your life, pray and live your life- Giveon

Today I will be sharing a story my grandmother wrote me when I was only three years old and leaving Jamaica. Till this day I still has the exact piece of paper she wrote the story down on and there isn't a smudge on it and this is what she said.

"My dear autumn leaf, though your days on the island are shorting my heart will always be with you. I except to see growth in you when you come to visit and pray you make friends whom you might show me. When I was a little girl my mother would have us grow peaches the size of a violin. They'd as sweet and as juicy as they could be but when I learned you and your mother would be leaving I simply became emotional. Realizing not having enough time to teach you all the things that kept me and your grandfather safe from all the danger while living in Kingston took a toll on me. Remember this though your career matters in this world and where you will be going determines your fate. It shall be like an ancient museum that has been standing since our people had the idea to make it in order to remember them and us. The dawn of social media is upon us and it's noise echoes in the news everyday as we continue to witness disaster over and over again. Be apart of the world but steer away from the outlines of chalk they used to keep us boxed in and confused. This earth is as cold as an ice cube and for a young lady like you soon will be become it shall try to bite at you each and every time. From people developing the greed of money and more you have a tool to let that not overcome you. My little one you don't like the smell of cheddar I thought I'd throw that one in to make you smile. Understand the psychology of others as well as yourself then make your mark. I adore you my autumn leaf and peace be with you."

My love for her has never left since making me truly grateful she gave me this. Leaving me longing to go back to the Carribbean to see my sweet grandmother. In her eyes I became everything she hoped I would be and I always stayed her dear autumn leaf.

My grandmother wrote this for me a while ago when she found out I would be leaving Kingston, Jamaica. It is heartwarming and soft on the soul and I think you all will love it just as much as I do.
