It was the end of the day the bell rang ding ding ding all of us stood up and rushed through the halls like a stampede of elephants pushing past each other to get through the door to freedom. I sprinted across the playground across the money bars and over the wall and through the gate. My dad was waiting in the pick up lane and I rushed into the car. He has his Colorado Rockies Jersey on it was white with purple pinstripes all over and it had a number two and my favorite players name on the back was Troy Tulowitzki the Rockies shortstop. I had an identical jersey on  and a black rockies cap on my head. We turned onto I-25 and headed for the Rockies stadium Coors Field. We pulled into a parking spot in the packed parking garage, walked down 3 flights of stairs and headed on our long walk to the stadium. Halfway through our voyage I heard a ringing in the distance ring ring ring. We looked behind us and saw a rickshaw speeding towards us. We got in the rickshaw and began flying down the sidewalk through the crowds. As we got closer to the stadium I could hear the roaring of the crowd it sounded like waves crashing into the beach. As we got out of the rickshaw the man said “enjoy the game and gooo Rockies”. “My dad said thank you thanks for the ride” and gave the driver a tip. We got into the lines for security and met some of my dad's coworkers in line. His co-workers are great, they are all super funny and huge sports fans. We put our bags through security and made it to the other side and there was a station where they were handing out bobble heads of one of the Rockies pitchers Ubaldo Jimenez he had broken a Rockies record of most strikeouts in one game. They do this in celebration of their players doing something incredible. We walked up the stairs towards the food areas. We walked up to the small food cart and bought some peanuts popcorn and pop. We then began the scavenger hunt to find out seats we walked through aisle after aisle and row after row until we found our seats. We were sitting on the right field just inside of fair territory. The game started and the Rockies were the home team so the Dodgers were up to bat first. First few innings had gone by and not much had happened; it was tied 3-3 top of the fourth inning. The dodgers hit a hard line drive toward first base. Todd Helton the Rockies first baseman lunged at the ball like a pouncing lion caught it and turned a double play. The crowd erupted with joy and excitement. The inning ended and the Rockies held them scoreless that inning. Carlos Gonzales was up to back next for the Rockies. He had a great year and already had a hit and a rbi this game. He walked up to the plate, his walkup song playing in the background and the crowd was chanting “cargo cargo cargo”. The first pitch flew in and I looked across the stadium. I could see the army of white, purple and black all over the stadium. The spotlights were shining down over the lush green grass and the finely raked dirt. The pitcher threw to Gonzales and he extended his arms and crack! The ball sailed up to the moon and it was heading right in our direction my dad looked over at me and said “Go get it” I got up and moved up one row and I saw the ball coming in fast I stuck my trusty glove up in the air and moved with the ball and then snap the ball landed straight into my glove I looked over at my dad and his friends were all cheering and then I looked up to the jumbotron where the scores were and I saw my self overwhelmed with joy larger than life. The whole stadium cheered and clapped as I held the ball up in the air. People came over to congratulate me and gave me high fives. “The Rockies are now leading 5-3 after Carlos Gonzales 2 run homer in the bottom of the 5th” the announcers were very excited about having the lead over halfway through the baseball game. My dad and his friends all got up during the 7th inning stretch to sing along to the songs. The whole crowd sang take me out to the ball game at the top of their lungs. It was like a church choir it echoed throughout the whole stadium. After the songs we went up to the food deck to grab a snowcone. We grab a snow cone every time we come. I get the same thing every time tigers blood and grape in a large cone. It was the top of the 9th inning The score was 4-8 the Dodgers needed a big comeback to get the win. Ubaldo Himmenez was closing the game and he struck out the first batter. The next Dodger stepped up to the plate and smashed a fastball down the left field line and he ended up on second base. The next batter hit a ground ball through the gap between first and second and the runner on second scored it was now 8-5. Runner on first one out the Rockies needed 2 outs to seal their victory against the Dodgers. Next Tony Gwynn Jr. stepped up to the plate, he let the first pitch go to feel out the pitcher and get comfortable. Himmenez wound up and threw a curveball low in the zone Gwynn Jr. swung and made contact the ball darted through the infield Tulowitski dove for the ball right next to second base he made the play stepped on second The umpire yelled “you're out” and fired the ball to first Todd Helton stretched for it and the umpire yelled “he’s out”. The crowd erupted with cheers and music started to blare over the stadium speakers, the geysers in the homerun area erupted and the team was celebrating on the field. This was the series sealing game and the Rockies won the 7 game series. After the game I wanted to get my home run ball signed so our group ran down to the dugouts and waited for the players. We talked to one of the managers that was hanging around the dugout and my dad asked if he could get Carlos Gonzales to sign the homerun ball that he hit. About 10 minutes later the manager came out of the dugout smiling. He tossed me the ball and it didn't just have Carlos Gonzales’ signature it had Tulowitzki’s Helton’s and many more of the players. I was ecstatic all of my favorite Rockies players signed a ball that I caught from a homerun. We began to walk up the stadium steps. It was almost completely empty, it was so calm and the stadium was so big. When we stepped outside of the stadium it was 11:00 the bus lines were full and the rickshaws were not running. We began the long voyage back to the car. We walked alongside the road and train tracks for a while. We then walked across a massive bridge over a very busy freeway there were rows upon rows of red tail lights dotting the roadway and then through the neighboring shops and restaurants. Neon signs lined the street sides trying to rack in as much late night business they could. We climbed the parking garage steps and found the car. We said goodbye to my dad's friends and they congratulated me on the ball I got. I opened the car door and got inside. I put my seatbelt on, my dad started the car and turned on the radio. I stared out the window looking at the lights fly by and the rain drops sliding down the window. The announcer on the radio began to talk about the Rockies game and all the stats I began to get really tired and eventually drifted off to sleep. I felt the car come to a stop. I looked out the window and saw a bright light. I looked at it more closely and saw a sign every kid loves to see on a late night 7-eleven drive. We walked into the store and my dad said “get one drink and a quick snack and hurry up”. I picked out my items, a sprite and some chex mix and we got back onto the road. I ate my food and then laid down across the back seat looking at my signed baseball looking at it in awe. I began to feel myself drift off to sleep dreaming that one day I will play baseball with the Rockies and hitting a walkoff grandslam. We pulled into the driveway, I got out of the car and my mom was waiting for me. She said “hey boys how was the game I saw the Rockies won”. I showed her my ball and told her all about the game and then She tucked me into bed and I went to sleep. I thought to myself and thought is there a better way to spend the night than with your dad at a baseball game.
