Tabby the couch potato cat

She was left on the side of the road.  She was fed a lot of people food so she was overweight.  She was either blind of deaf, but we never found out which one.  How could someone cause an animal so much harm?  How can people abandon their pets? I never thought that this chubby little cat could be one of the best things to happen to my life.

One day while we were driving to a nearby animal shelter, the MSPCA, I was thrilled to see all the animals there, wondering what kinds of animals they had. It was free pet day at the MSPCA and I had no idea we went there for a pet. “All cats of 9 years or older are free for today” is what the poster said, or at least something like that. We looked around for a little while, we saw a variety of cats there, fluffy to hairless, small to big, kittens to cats. But we eventually settled on one chubby cat in the front that was just lying down in her cat bed. The people at the MSPCA opened the glass door to her cage like thing and let us pet her. But when the worker opened the cage the cat got out and started walking around the cat room. The worker got her and helped us with the adoption papers for her.

After all that we got to take her home and she found her favorite new bed almost instantly. She found a white rocking chair that she had slept in for years, which she later switched to a soft black foldable chair. She slept in those two chairs so much to the point of where you would see clumps of shedded hair almost looking like it was growing out of the chair. We had to clean up her shed balls every so often so it didn’t get out of hand. She loved food, she would meow for food almost 20 minutes after she ate, sometimes only 10 minutes. She would drink some of her water but then just touch it with her paw and throw food in it making it all gross.

As she got older she was getting to be both blind and deaf, we noticed pretty quickly. We called her name but she wouldn’t look unless we waved our hands or something. Her eyes started getting a little more grey than when we first got her so we assumed it was blindness, for reference her eyes were a greenish yellow when we got her. She was a nice cat when we had her, she didn’t fight anyone by scratching or biting, and was overall a peaceful, cute, chubby couch potato of a cat.

Overall, my cat Tabby brought a lot of happiness to my life and house. And if you're considering on getting a cat, do some research and see what you need to take care of it and if it's the best choice for you. Cat’s can be very calm or the complete opposite, so be careful on what cat you get.
