How the Current Education System Can Improve
Education Systems in America need to be improved. Countries like Japan, South Korea, and China are destroying education systems in America. The school system needs to be better about discipline of the students. A big reason why other countries have better education than the US is because of discipline. I wish I was taught better methods of discipline so I could be more focused in class.
The United States graduation rates are not getting any better, in fact they're getting worse. I found a quote from “dreamofanation.org” that says, “The US is one of only two industrialized countries in which today’s young people are no more likely than previous generations to complete high school.” Kids need to have more motivation to graduate and get a good education. About only 1 in 4 students don’t graduate on time, which is not a great percentage. If the United States education methods were better more kids would graduate on time.
” Another quote I found from the same source said, “And even among those who do, about 40 percent of them lack the skills necessary to succeed in college and the 21st-century workplace.” So it proves that a lot of kids aren't prepared enough for college or the real world. I get nervous about if I will be prepared enough for the real world and for college. I think the school system can improve on teaching kids more life skills as well.
Another thing I think the United States education system needs to think about is making the school year round so there is no big gaps for students to forget what they need to know. I think they should have a bunch of short breaks so they won’t be as stressed when they come back to school. The students should still spend the same amount of days as they do now but they should just take shorter breaks. It will also help the attendance issue in school because when you take more breaks you will have more time during the school year for appointments or other things you could miss school doing. Short frequent breaks also helps teachers with planning so the students can learn on a good schedule.
A lot of schools in the United States are too overcrowded. Students are not getting the individual attention that some students need. The big classes sometimes causes chaos, which will lead to a lot of lost learning. The teachers would have a lot less trouble controlling and teaching a smaller class. I would be a lot more focused in a smaller class as well.
If our schools could work on improving those things, the United States would not have so many dropouts or non-graduates. A lot of the poverty in America could be an effect of the school system. A lot of the dropouts could be because the kids don't feel motivated to learn. All of these issues are getting worse. We need to act now to change our school system.
