“Yo Cam! Go flip the signs for me.”

“We closing?” I asked hopefully. I couldn’t wait to go home and go to bed. Joe shook his head and I walked outside and turned the signs so that the side saying “We’re Closed” has facing the streets. I walked back inside and found Lexi and Braden talking behind the counter.

“If you want to do sauces I can do the dining room.” Lexi said to Braden. Realizing what that meant for me, I interjected,

“Wait, you’re going to throw me on dish? I did it last time?”

“Snooze you lose buddy.” Braden said as he patted me on the back and walked past me to  fill the sauce bottles.

“I’ll pay you twenty dollars to switch with me.” I said.

“Fat chance dude,” Braden said with a laugh. “I hate dish.” Frustrated, I look at Lexi and before I could say anything she said,

“I ain’t doing it. That’s something for you two to figure out.” I turned to Joe hoping he would bless me with his words of wisdom. He had been standing behind the grill watching our interaction the whole time.

“Women.” He said. I chuckled and went to the back.

“Fifteen dollars to help me on dish when you’re done.” I said to Braden.

“Deal.”

When at last me and Braden had finished washing dishes, we were the only ones left. All we had to do was take the last bag of trash to the dumpster and lock up. I was pulling the dumpster to the curb when I heard Braden yell,

“Cam we have a problem!”

“What did you leave something inside?” I shouted back.

“No,” He said as I walked over. “The bag full of meat and fat is ripped and it’s all falling out.” We spent the next hour trying to devise ways to get the last bag of trash into the dumpster but despite our best efforts we could not.

“I’m calling Lexi,” I announced. “Maybe she can bring us a bag to wrap around this one.”

“Go for it, we aren’t going to find one around here.” Braden replied. We waited about twenty minutes before we saw Lexi’s SUV pull around the corner. We cheered when we saw her.

“Y’all need this?” She shouted from her window.

“Yes! You’re a lifesaver!” I said as I took the bag from her. My excitement was short lived however, because when I opened the bag I found it was half the size of the ripped one.

“Dog. You have got to be kidding me.” Braden said.

“Lexi this bag you brought us is tiny! How the hell are we supposed to fit all this crap in here?” I said as I turned to see her opening the door to the restaurant.

“You know y’all never locked this right?”
