Plane Ride
“Delta flight to Atlanta with extensions to Houston and Ft. Lauderdale now boarding at gate 8 we will be announcing the rows momentarily,” the attendant's monotone voice and dull attitude
As soon as I got home from school two days before break started, my parents had me grab my suitcase and carry on and load up my grandparent’s car. We were speedy to the airport. People were rushing trying to get to their planes.
As we approached the gate I realized I left my carry on with my book and iPad in my grandparents car. I turned to my mom slowly and she saw the guilty look on my face.
“What’d you forget?” she asked timidly.
“Carry on” was all I said. She shook her head and smiled
“It’s ok Liv there’s nothing important in there anyway.” I immediately felt better knowing I didn’t get in trouble for leaving anything at home.
We boarded our flight and just sat there for two hours while the plane was in the air. We soon arrived. Getting there was easy now we had to go find our next gate and plane. We looked and it didn’t arrive yet. We decided to go get food since it was 10pm and we hadn’t eaten since 2:30 when my brother and i got home from school.
“Alright we’ve got about an hour. What do we want to eat?” my dad quickly questioned so we could get a move on.
“Fried chicken!!!” my brother practically yelled.
“No,” I groaned “I want mexican from the place over there”
“Then we’ll get both” my dad compromised. We went and got our food with food 25 minutes but it was worth it. My food was amazing. A giant burrito with steak. Everything on it. My brother got fried chicken from Popeyes. I didn’t understand why he got fried chicken but then again, I got a burrito. After we got our food we didn’t have that much time so we decided to eat on the plane.
As we got on the plane I noticed a woman who had brought an entire two course meal. I almost burst out laughing until my mom punched me and told me to stop staring. As the plane took off I was eager to eat my food. I scarfed it down in about 5 minutes and listened to the movie “trolls” that my mom and I were watching. I would sing along to parts and my mom told me I sounded like a dying cow.
We soon arrived in Ft. Lauderdale and we went to get our bags. We got to baggage claim only to find out that we were going to have to wait an entire hour just to get our stupid bags. The flight seemed uneventful but I had so much fun just sitting with my mom on the plane not doing anything. I don’t always get time with my mom because she’s always working so just the simple plane ride was memorable for me.
