“Mom was it supposed to rain today?” I said.

“Not that I know of, why?” my mom said,

“Because it’s getting really dark out.” I said.

“Okay, we better get out of the water and get everyone.” Mom said.

“Okay.” I said as we made our way to everyone. As soon as we were all in the car it started to rain super hard. The rain sounded like hail hitting metal.

My cousin, Hailey, said, “It was a good thing that we got in the car when we did because, if not we would have been stuck in that mess.” The hail was scaring me because it was super loud. And it was coming down the size of golf balls.

“Mom are we going to drive through the rain with how hard it’s coming down?”  I asked.

“We will try, if not we will go to a store and wait for it to wear down.”

The rain had turned into hail for about 3 minutes. After that, the rain came crashing down like waves from the ocean. My cousins, Denise and Hailey, and I had to be quiet for certain amounts of time. We had to be quiet for those certain amounts of time so my mom could concentrate on the roads. The roads had gotten more slippery the more the rain came. So we had to drive slower than the speed limit was.

“I wish it would end.” I said to myself . I had to be more patient than I had ever been in my life.

“Mom how much farther do we have because it’s about 2:00 p.m now.”

“I don’t know if we are close to the house yet but we might still be in Florida.” My mom said.

   “Okay,” I said.

That's when we saw a huge flash of lightning and then we heard the loud rumble of the thunder, it sounded like a bomb out of a movie. After that, the sound of the rain was all we heard outside of the car until it started to rumble again. I was getting more nervous by the minute because of the roads and the sounds.

It was now about 2:30 and the storm, rather than lifting started to rain harder than it was and it was coming down in large sheets of water. We had to stop at the gas station because we were all hungry and needed a drink so we did stop and got something to eat and drink. When we had gotten out of the gas station we had to get in the car so we could start driving before the rain picked up again, we had made it about a mile before the rain came down in sheets of water again. When we reached the next stoplight we had to find a way around a tree that had fallen down from the power of the wind. When we found our way around it witch took about 5 minutes. The rain was making me more nervous because it was hard for us to see  the road and the other drivers.

Now it was 3:00 and the rain was still coming down in the big sheets but it was coming down a tiny bit lighter. I thought the storm  was never going to end. The storm had given me a lot of time to think one thing that I had really had my mind set on was that we didn’t think to check the weather before we had left and if we would have we wouldn’t have been caught in the storm.

The storm had finally stopped it was about 3:30 when it finally did.

My cousin Denise said “I think I see the road that we need to get to the house.”

We were all impatient during the storm. But as the storm had quit we were all starting to get a little more patience because the roads where still very slippery from the rain so we still had to be quiet.

The storm had taught me to be patient because if your patient beautiful things can happen. After the storm there was a double rainbow in the middle of the sky. And as we drove by and saw it I was thinking to myself I am glad that I was patient.
