Van Gogh
One day I was in my art class, I was assigned a painting that I would be reconstructing for my final project, and I had come across one of Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings. Van gogh has many paintings that are detailed by each brush stroke on the paper and including various shades of color, adding definition. The reason this art piece attracted me so much had to do with the fact that it suppressed much detail. How the detail oriented piece had been able to allow me to connect with it was through my emotion. It drew in my feelings and encouraged me to have a different mindset about my life. Helping to interest me in the life of the city, and it shows it from a certain artistic aspect.
Thinking of a painting, which had seemed to catch my eye. I payed careful attention to each and every brush stroke. There was this dark and mysterious sky, which was illuminated by the bright stars that glowed bright through the distance; noticing the sky scrapers that seemed to almost touch the sky. You could see them glowing through the night by the people awake in the night of the city. As I moved further down the page to the water I could see the lights of the city shining elegantly against the still water, that looked just like the deep sea. There were sailboats that were floating in the water allowing entry to the heart of the city. I had imagined being able to stand on that bridge, so close to a chance towards an abundance of opportunity. Just thinking of it, felt so real. Each stroke of paint was a single detail in the masterpiece that was this work. I could almost just feel the livelihood of the artwork and find myself getting lost in it. Being now encouraged, that it was now my dream to go to a place like that. For awhile I was unsure of what I had wanted to do. Living in a small town was all I had known, but finally I felt I had found a place where I felt most at home. The Place that felt like home was the place I wanted to be. By seeing that single painting I was set on what I wanted for my future.
I hadn’t been sure of what goals I wanted in the future other than to be able to make enough money to support me financially. Once being open minded about where I wanted to go, certain experiences directed me more toward the correct path. When I came across the painting it enlightened me both mentally and physically. It had been able to encourage me to work harder to get to where I want to be. Showing me the beauty of being in the city, being able to be around so many different people. This allowed me to be able to grow as a person to be able to reach my goals.
