Come After Me

I look over my shoulder only to find an empty stretch of road mocking me. I turn my view to the house that I was in only a few moments ago. Blaming myself for being so stubborn and wondering what I could of possibly done differently. I kept asking myself again and again “why wasn't anyone coming after me”? I could've been killed out here on the road all by myself. My mother always told me that a girl at my age of 15 shouldnt be on the road all by herself. Which made me all the more confused as of why my father told me to get out of his house and more importantly of why he let me leave. I look forward and could feel my heart begin to race as the truth started to sink in and my fears became more real with every passing second. I try to breath slowly but find it difficult as this unfamiliar feeling started to take over my body I grab for the side of the railing to keep from falling over now noticing I am on a bridge. I look down at the cars going slower and slower in my mind and wonder how badly it would hurt. How badly it would hurt him. I shake the thought from my minding knowing if I think like that then he will win and I will lose my sanity at the same time and I am better than that.
