Snapped in Two
It was the day after Easter, and my parents had gone out to lunch. It felt like any other day, I had finished my school uncharacteristically early, so I decided to do some work in the basement. My older sister stoped me just as i was opening the door and said, "We are going to climb the pine tree in the back yard, wanna come?" I know what you, the reader, might be thinking,
"Isn't climbing a tree when you parents aren't home kind of a recipy for disaster?" It is, but at the time, we had been climbing that tree for a long time. So I said,
"You guys go ahead, I will join you in like 15 minutes." They went ahead, but I had this gut renching feeling that something as gonna go wrong. I tried to dismiss hat feeling for hypocondria because at the time I was struggling with that. But the feeling was only growing stronger with every passing second. 15 minutes later, I was still in the basement, when I heard something that made my heart stop.
I heard an earpeircing snap, not long after a loud thump, and my older sister screamed. That gut renching feeling had tried to warn me, but I didn't listen. I charged up the stairs to see large tears streaming down my older sister's face, in that moment I Knew Adaline(this is not her real name) was hurt. Frantically, my older sister managed to tell my every thing that happened, all I could understand was, "Adaline...... branch....... arm broke!" My senses went into over drive, I told her to get the neihbors for help. I charged out the back door, and what I saw horrified me. My little sister, was on the ground sobing, and she was right next to a tree branch. As I got closer, about 10 feet to be exact, I could see lots of blood from her nose, and various other places. Then, I saw her right arm, about three inches from the wrist, there was a new joint, bent at a perfect 90 degree angle. I threw up, my older sister got my best friend, who could tolerate broken bones and blood, to talk with Adaline to calm her down. She told me that there were no one else on our street was home.
My older sister and I ran back inside to call our parents, and get an ice pack, when Lucy(again, not her real name) asked if we should call an ambulance. I told her no, because Adaline was still consious, and there were no visible bones. So I called my mom, and told her what had happened, she was skeptical at first, but then she and dad rushed home, scooped up Adaline, and drove her to the Hospital. Once Adaline had left, Lucy and I broke down into tears. Some of our other friends came and picked us up, got us icecream, and took us to their house. The whole time, I was as pale as a ghost, my hands were shaking, and my eyes were wide open. I was still trying to comprehend what had happened. Later we bought gifts for Adaline, as we waited seven and a half hours for her to come home.
That evening, at about 9:20, Adaline finally came home. She had an ear to ear smile on her face, and a hot pink cast on her right fore arm. I was crying tears of joy, Adaline was not only ok, but happy.
Looking back, that event could have gone much worse. My little sister fell twelve feet out of a pine tree through a less than 1 foot gap in the branches. If she had hit a branch on the way down, she would have died. Thankfully, she only broke her arm, and the worst thing that happened besides the arm was she had a very shallow cut on her neck, just missing her artery. Every day, I thank God that I still have two sisters, no matter how much they drive me insane.

This is the story of how my little sister broke her right arm. Even now, two years later, I am still haunted by the picture of her deformed arm.
