Peace in War
I could feel my hair growing in place, but time seemed to stand still. The shells landed all around us, but we didn’t move. I could hear my heart in my head; It over powered any commanding voice. The dirt was wet and hard, but would fly in chunks after every shell. We were given the signal and moved out of our trench to the dead zone. We knew our fate was certain death, but we charged in an attempt to control our fate, our destiny. The shells kept falling; people were dying. My name is Bruno Vonletti, and these were my last moments.
