To me, an exemplary teacher starts with compassion and understanding. Teachers gain respect and trust from their students when they treat them like human beings. A lot of teachers I have known do not try to understand their students and why they keep missing deadlines or simply not doing work. When kids struggle in class, it is most likely caused by problems outside of school or the kids do not understand the work. It is better to try and reason with a student struggling rather than bashing them and yelling at them. 

Julie Jones is a perfect example of an exemplary teacher. She never fails to accept her students for who they are. She does her best to understand her students and helps to make them feel safe. Julie Jones is a teacher who every highschool wishes to teach them. She helps push us to do our best but she does not make them feel pressured. 

Times when I was not feeling well or struggling with the work she handed out, she would help me to better understand and feel as though I was not stupid. Juli Jones is truly a special teacher that most people will not get in a lifetime. Her lessons are not one on top of the other and she always makes sure to incorporate fun in them. Sometimes she even puts in prizes that always makes us students want to do them more. 

She makes sure her students succeed. She tries to do everything in her power to make students the best version of themselves and never fails to make anyone feel safe and comfortable in her classroom. We are one of the luckiest high schools because Julie Jones and her teachings. I think she should win the educator of the year award to show her the appreciation she deserves for all the good she’s done.
