Have you ever had a teacher that you look up to? I have, and we all need a teacher like that. When you think about it, students and teachers spend more time with each other on a normal school day than they do with their own family. Teachers play a big role in student’s lives. Mrs. Wood, my 8th-grade science teacher, at Brandywine Springs School had a big impact on my life. I think that the Educator of the Year award should go to Mrs. Wood for so many reasons that I could not even put in words but, I will try.

Mrs. Wood is one of the kindest teachers I know whether it’s saying good morning to everyone with a smile on her face or helping people in the community that are in need; she enjoys doing it. Mrs. Wood wants to make sure that every student understands what she is teaching. She takes her own time to assist the ones that need it, like at lunchtime or after school. She is one of the most kind-hearted and funny teachers there are.

Mrs. Wood inspires so many people; her goodness is spread to others. Everyone needs a Mrs. Wood in their life. She has a passion for teaching that not a lot of teachers have. Whatever the lesson is she makes it fun, and all the students are involved. All students have respect for her, but not only that, she has respect for the students. In her science class, she took something that most kids don't enjoy and made us passionate about it.

Mrs. Wood has strong relationships with all of her students no matter who they are. Even when there is the most misbehaved kid in class, she is still patient with them, and we all know how difficult that can be. She brings out the best in all of her students no matter what she is teaching.

Mrs. Wood has made a positive effect on my life and many other student’s lives. Mrs. Wood is a positive role model for a lot of people, and one of my biggest role models out there. She taught me so many things that are not just science related. She is patient, kind, funny, inspiring, and one-thousand things more. That’s why I am nominating Mrs. Wood for Educator of the Year.
