Bowling

My main goal when I’m on this subject is to either avoid it or be completely engulfed in the conversation. I am very passionate about my interests but people don’t always understand. If I bring up the fact that I am a bowler it is very offensive when others say they hate bowling or just plain out say it is stupid. I’ve learned over the years that even if someone can’t relate to you that doesn’t necessarily mean you are wrong to like it. If you really love something it shouldn’t matter what anyone tells you.

The first thing that came to mind when I think about bowling is self-improvement. Even if others are telling me it isn’t important to them it will always be important to me. When I bowl I want to improve every single time. Ever since I was four or five years old I have been bowling. It is just something I feel confident about and I know I can only be as good as I let myself be.

When I bowled for the first time I may not have remembered it but I know I loved it. My mom tells me all the time of shy I was. She told me I would have to be pushed up there sometimes because I was scared to go. After I started getting older I noticed significant changes to the way I bowled. My technique was better and my scores were continuously rising.

As my bowling started getting better and I was getting older I noticed more people trying to beat me. With the competition I started getting more attention as well. More people were complimenting me and I wasn’t used to that. I wasn’t used to the compliments or the attention but it was definitely helping my confidence in myself. I still bowl now and my average is around a 210, but I am getting better and better every time I bowl. My goal is to do the best I can and hopefully get better as I get older.

This whole story about bowling is all very true even if some people find it boring. I understand not everyone can be interested in what I’m determined to show isn’t that bad. Everyone should have a passion because without it I don’t think I’d appreciate bowling as much. This passion of mine had definitely given me many opportunities others will never have and I am very grateful for that.
