I Wish I Had
Kayla Montgomery's piece "I Wish I Had" shows readers the feeling of love and loss. This article brought tears to my eyes as I read Kayla's experiences with her grandpa. Not only do her feelings shine through, but she tells her readers her regrets. She regrets that she didn't cry when she found out her grandfather passed away. She regrets that she never visited him in the hospital. she even regrets the little things like not learning his cornbread recipe and asking him to change the channel to cartoons.
Kayla did something so hard , yet brave, a lot of people wouldn't have been able to do it. She put her feelings, her private feelings, into writing. She put into words the thoughts a lot of people have after the loss of a loved one. She opened up her heart and wrote a beautiful piece that really touched me, and I'm sure many others, too.
