Meaning of Community Service
The service one provides for other individuals is futile if it does not improve the volunteer's life as well as the recipient's life. The underlying concept of community service is not designed for one to simply improve an impoverished life or augment the quality of deteriorated circumstances of another, but to additionally exemplify sincerity and compassion. Community service is not measured by the countless hours one scribbles on a timesheet periodically during a school year, or the time assigned to someone attempting to eschew an impending penalty or punishment, but rather by the impact it has on someone who is drowning in desolate circumstances. It should not be motivated by pretentious or selfish attentions, but by simpathy and a caring heart.
