Essay contest:
Communities uniting
Communities bring a group of people together. Together, people bring happiness to each other. Being in a community unites people in an indescribable way. It is so beautiful to watch people change and adapt to these favorable deeds. By working hard, I can make everyone's living standards and experiences good. In doing so, I know I have made a difference to my community just by being a kind-hearted person. It makes a great impact on a person when you just smile, wave, or say hi. It makes people feel more welcomed, and know that you're someone they can go to if they have any trouble. I have also done other big things to help my community. At my local church, they were asking people to send any jackets or articles of clothing that they were not using, to help people who suffered from tremendous hurricanes. My family and I quickly gathered the jackets we no longer needed. I also gave away old sweatpants, hats, sweatshirts, t shirts, and gloves. Donating these things helped these people so much, and helped them replace the items they had lost. I think going through a loss of anything can make a community as a whole so much stronger, because you bond as you grieve. I have seen my community become so much closer not only as great friends of mine, but everyone has been more welcoming and kind spirited towards one another. Love is shown through the actions we bring and that's why I strive to continue to make a difference to my community for the better.

My name is Ryann, I am 15. Something about me is that I am a very kind-hearted person and sometimes people take advantage of my kindness. I have learned to always be kind to people regardless of the way they act, and sometimes that can be hard. This is why I decided to write about making a difference in your community. Making everyone feel happy can help them become kinder people because maybe they are shy, you never know what people are going through and that's why I decided to write this, to reflect upon people and their feelings.
