The Girl With The Frog Bag
There’s a girl with a frog bag who skips through the halls of her school, like a kid who would only skip during P.E because it was more enjoyable for her. The girl with the frog bag holds many items in her bag, like candy and chapsticks, and bandaids. The girl with the frog bag offers a chapstick to a boy whose lips crack and bleed during winter. The girl with the frog bag offers candy to a person who lost xyr dog recently and offers xem a hug. The girl with the frog bag opens her bag to a girl who asks for a pad, “Take as many as you think you’ll need.” The girl with the frog bag smiles at anyone who looks at her, and she hopes it brightens their day. Many people know about the girl with the frog bag. They know that the girl with the frog bag only started wearing the bag in her junior year. They know that the frog bag is called her “best friend bag.” They know that each of the toys she wears on her lanyard and on her earrings has a name. They know that if you say hi to her then you have to say hi to Elliot, the fuggler that hides the id badge with the name she doesn’t like. They know that if you ask “Where did you get all of these things?” she will only laugh and shrug. They know that the girl with the frog bag is tired, with the bags under her eyes always one of the first things that catch their eyes. They know that during pride she buys little flags and hides them around the school, and she gifts them to anyone who looks at them for longer than a second. They know that the girl with the frog bag is always there to help anyone. The girl with the frog bag will offer advice or her shoulder to cry on if they ask. Everyone likes the girl with the frog bag and will miss her when she leaves for college.
A girl with tired eyes smiles as she finally receives her frog bag that she ordered so long ago. A girl with tired eyes looks inside the bag, judging how much space she has to work with. “The girl with the frog bag,” she whispers.

This piece is based on a dream that I told my mom once. I had just ordered a bag that looks like a frog and I was so excited about it that I started ranting about how I wanted to be the friend that always had what you needed on hand, or how if you needed a certain playlist with a certain mood to it you could come to me and find what you need. I said that I would keep chapsticks and little pride flags in my bag. Pads for people who need them, and medical supplies for those who didn't want to go to the nurse. I said that once I got that bag I would name it my "best friend bag" and that I would start working on getting the supplies I want to put in there, in there.
I've actually just relieved that bag recently and I'm planning on getting a job soon so that I can start completing some goals of mine, that "best friend bag" thing included.
This piece was one of my first creative pieces and actually the first that my teacher recommended that I submit to be published. So, after waiting a few months, here I am!
