The Shanely Hotel
Ghosts have been a thing since the beginning of time. Some people believe in them, others don’t. But what if ghosts really are real? Some people can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits, but the people who can’t usually say that those people are mad, or crazy. They probably think that they are lunatics and psychos. But then again, what if suddenly you could see ghosts?
The Shanley Hotel has changed owners several times over the years. In 1895, a fire destroyed the entire structure of the hotel. The hotel was quickly rebuilt and reopened to guests within a few months. But nobody would have believed what the fire did to cause that hotel a place with ghosts.
The Shanley Hotel is said to have ghosts in some of the rooms. This is true; there are twelve (12) ghosts in the hotel. They each had their own room and to this day are still known to have the room that they were staying in. The names of the ghosts are Rosie, Anna, Maddie, Roosevelt, Oscar Grover, Marguerite, Esther, Beatrice, James, John, Joe, and Jonathan. Rosie was just a three-year-old girl when she died. She was one of the Shanley’s children. Her death was caused when she fell down a nearby well. Rosie’s room has one full bed with a bedside table and a lamp on it. Her walls have a spotted wallpaper and an accent wall with floral wallpaper. In one corner of her room, she has a cabinet without the doors on it and it’s covered with her toys and her teddy bears. Next to the cabinet, she has a small, pink dresser with flowers painted onto it.
Anna’s room also has one full bed but with two bedside tables and both have lamps on them. She has a striped wallpaper on top, and on the bottom the wallpaper is floral. In the corner by her door, she has a rocking chair that she likes to sit in while she plays with her music box. Her music box is on the dresser next to the rocking chair. The dresser also has a lamp matching the ones next to her bed and a necklace holder. Maddie’s room has a polka dot wallpaper on top and floral wallpaper on the bottom. Just like Anna and Rosie, Maddie has one full bed. Next to her bed she a bedside table with a lamp on it and on the other side she has her dresser which also has a lamp on it.
Roosevelt has a King-sized bed. Next to her bed, she has two bedside tables, both with lamps on them. On one of the bedside tables, she has a clock. She has floral wallpaper on top and on the bottom, she has a different set of floral wallpaper. In the corner with the bedside table that has the clock on it, she has a chair with floral decorations carved onto it. Oscar Grover’s room has one full bed and one twin bed. Just like Roosevelt, he has floral wallpaper on top and a different set of floral wallpaper on the bottom. Next to the twin bed, Oscar Grover has an open wardrobe. Next to the wardrobe, he has a dresser with a mirror on top.
Just like Roosevelt, Marguerite has a King-sized bed, and she also has the same wallpaper style and the same wallpaper that Roosevelt has. Next to her bed, she has two bedside tables, both of which have lamps. Esther, on the other hand, has one full bed, one day bed, and one trundle. Her walls have floral wallpaper. Instead of having hardwood floors, Esther has a carpet covering the entire bedroom floor. On both sides of the trundle, she has bedside tables, both containing a lamp. The rest of the ghost’s bedrooms are on the third floor, which is now, chosen by the owners, closed off due to some kind of paranormal activity that has caused one of the ghosts to upset and apparently, strangle somebody.
Many people that have been to the Shanley Hotel have heard Rosie, Anna, and Maddie. There is even a YouTube video that shows a birthday party at the hotel. In the video, an adult said, “Okay, who wants cake?” The children were excited to have cake, and apparently, Rosie was too. A few minutes after that was said, a faint voice of a child, which turned out to be Rosie’s, said “I want cake too.”
