Heart Disease
This is an essay about heart disease. I am going to tell you what causes it, who is at risk, how it can be prevented, the symptoms, what treatments are available, and how it affects the quality of life for those who have it. Hopefully, by the end of this, you will be more educated on the subject. Or not.
The most common cause of heart disease is Atherosclerosis. Heart disease, which is caused by atherosclerosis is caused by an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, being overweight, and smoking. All things that the average American does on a daily basis. Which is why more Americans get heart disease than anyone else. For some strange reason, women are more at risk than men.
The ways to prevent heart disease is to exercise regularly, eat fruits and vegetables, not smoking, and maintaining a healthy weight. Apparently, our parents were right when they were lecturing us about our lives. Who knew? The symptoms of this disease are chest pains, shortness of breath, an irregular heartbeat, weakness, nausea, and sweating.
Treatments that are available for people with heart disease are as follows; a long list of medications and surgeries. That's it. No simple solution. Which makes sense, since it isn't a simple disease. It's anything but that.
As for people who have heart disease, their lives pretty much suck. They have a hard time doing anything physical, they have a difficult social life and they are mentally insecure.
