Sexism
Since the beginning of history, sexism was huge. The definition of sexism is the discrimination or hatred against people based on their gender rather than their individual merits. This is the reason for why women are ridiculed for playing football, and men are looked down upon if they want to be a cheerleader. The topic on sexism usually focuses on women because women are usually degraded and scoffed at by society. This misogyny occurs everywhere. Recently, Malala Yousafzai got shot in the head by the Taliban for standing up for girl’s rights. Angelina Jolie got a double mastectomy to save her life yet people ridiculed her because they said it was “a waste”, and “unattractive” and the most enraging, “what’s the point of her then”. It is really unfair how women are the lesser of the two genders. Women are capable of doing the same amount of work as men, and it is time for society to accept and not look down upon women with disdain.
