My Response to "Our Place in the Sun"
The writing titled “Our Place in the Sun,” written by Nina C., talks about how her and her friend’s dreams didn’t come true. Her article made me feel sad knowing how many dreams get lost after children grow up. Nina writes, “My great aunt’s backyard never seemed enough to satisfy our insatiable appetites for adventure.” As kids we are all filled with these great ideas of what we want to do with our futures. As we get older though, those dreams start to fade away with reality. At the end of the article, Nina writes how her friend said, “‘Do you want to help me pick out some decorations for my dorm room’? She asked me through clenched teeth.” As we move onto college, the dreams us kids once had are lost as we face reality and move on with our lives.
