Repair of Our World by Sydney Rothschild is an eye opening piece on modern day Israel. Today all I see of the holy land is on TV, where news anchors and bigots are uttering its name with ignorance. I have heard my share of slander, and have been baffled by it all. How can people hate Jews and Israel so much? All we want is a home, a place to call our own in the midst of fierce and violent anti semitism. People are often misinformed or not informed at all on the topic of Israel, a very hot fiery debate on whether Jews should enjoy their own land without guilt.

People believe it is an evil country full of violence in the middle of the war, but the only middle it is part of is the East. I had these misconceptions as well, but when I actually flew over to Israel my world was revolutionized. It was peaceful, one of the calmest places I had ever been to, especially its capital Jerusalem, which was a safe haven for all three religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam). It was the most beautiful place on Earth for me, to be among my people and wear my star of David, like a nametag, with a prideful smile. This rare piece mimicked my views. Although no Steinbeck or Fitzgerald, this work transcended today's popular opinions and I hope many will see and appreciate it.
