Keeping Promises
The almost mild title "Keeping Promises" is nothing but a facade, hiding the true darker nature of the fictional piece. Jenna Dube writes about a woman named Kay Jacobs, whose supposedly dead husband was an alcoholic. When one of their son's was kidnapped and killed under her husband's watch, they turned against each other. Enraged, he swore he would kill her one day. When he died, Kay thought she was safe from his threat. She was devastatingly mistaken. Almost forty years later, her husband decides to follow through with his promise.
This astonishingly well-written story is so realistic it sends shivers down the spines of all readers. Though I am very fortunate to have a loving family, it is terrifying to try to think of what could cause people to hate each other so much that they resort to murder. This piece has made me grateful for the love I have, and has also thoroughly creeped me out.
