My Father's Mistakes
“My Father’s Mistakes” by “Laura” is a captivating memoir about a snippet in her story of addiction. She retells the story of her father’s turn to speak at Alcoholics Anonymous, a required part of a program for recovering alcoholics. “Laura” is able to finally see her father’s side of his alcoholism. Her story was incredibly deep and shifted my views on alcoholism.
“Laura” had many depressing thoughts while her father is up there sharing. She never understood her father’s point of view and this was like a rubbing salt into the wound. She wonders why she hadn’t been able to make her father happy. However, at the end of the memoir, “Laura” has found strength. This shows that she is able to change her life around if she wanted. She taught me that mistakes can be fixed and that there is always three sides to each story.
