Shades of Bias MAG
I found Sanjana Kaicker’s article “Shades of Bias” extremely moving. It’s hard to both see and hear what skin-color prejudice has done to our society and the world. “Society, as a whole, should make an effort to be more accepting of everyone, regardless of their skin color,” Sanjana writes.
Yes, we may have darker or lighter skin color than others, but that should not keep us from associating with and respecting one another. I agree that the product Fair and Lovely is racist, wrong, and dangerous. Darker-skinned people should be proud and not ashamed of their color; they should have self-respect. Likewise, individuals around the world should not be negative toward dark-skinned individuals.
Thank you, Sanjana. We can both relate to each other on how society should be more accepting toward individuals who don’t feel comfortable in their own skin.
