The article, “But…She’s a Girl” left me feeling shocked. This article was about a girl on the guys basketball team and not getting treated equal. Everyone underestimated her because she was a girl playing with the guys. She was judged and thought of as less. She said, “I took my warm-up shots and noticed the opposing team was gawking at me.” The guys on the other team were kind of surprised that they were playing a girl. This situation doesn’t really happen around here. Guys on the guys team do get treated differently than other guys on the team. Some people think they aren’t good enough or don’t deserve playing time. In all reality, they deserve to be on the court just as much as the starters on the teams. The guys treated her different and wouldn’t just give her a chance to prove she could do it. She said, “That because I was a girl, I was physically inadequate to them.” They thought that since she was a girl, she wasn’t strong enough or able to play with them. When she finally received the ball, she proved her point. She was just as capable as them and deserved to be on that team. I overall enjoyed reading this article.
