Millions of people flush medication down toilets each year (Duhigg). Have you ever considered that many people flush dangerous medicines down the toilet? This topic has been deliberated for many years. There is not a lot known about the effects of consuming polluted water. Medication should not get flushed down the water because chemicals and other things are in the medication. So we should not flush it.

Flushing medication down the toilet is bad for us. It harms us because when the medication gets into our water. It pollutes the water also hurting animals and our pets. The polluted water can cause some of us to get sick. When medication is flushed down toilets we can get hurt from harmful medication we don’t need could cause us to have problems and die (Sackman).

When we flush medication down toilets and sinks, we are causing ourselves to get hurt. The polluted water can contaminate our food and cause our crops to die. The contaminated water can have ibuprofen and if pets drinks get to the water with ibuprofen in it can cause kidney failure and stomach ulcers. When we drink contaminated water it can lead us to get sick or to catch a disease like diarrhea, and discharge of bowels in a liquid form.

Dirty water causes us to get viruses and dirty water kills 5,000 kids a day. I think people are too lazy to care about our environment. That’s why when I get older I’m going to take care of the environment by not flushing medication down toilets and drains. When fish and other sea animals drink the polluted water we caused and we eat fish so fish can carry those diseases. When we catch those diseases we are going to regret flushing medication down toilets and drains.

These are the reasons we should not flush medication down toilets. We should think before ever flushing medication. It can harm people, animals, children, and you. When we flush medication down our toilets we are just hurting ourselves. We should think twice before flushing medication down toilets and drains. This is why we shouldn’t flush medications down sinks and toilets.
