Importance of Hunting

My family and I are all really big hunters so keeping the wildlife healthy is very important to us. My immediate family owns 100 acres near Kirksville, Missouri and then our extended family owns just under 1,000 acres of land right by us. Now this is a lot of land for one family to own. Some of the land is used year round for crops and farming, however, that is just a small portion of it. Most of the land is left alone most of the year to allow for animals to live freely throughout it. In fall is when hunting season begins, so at the end of summer that is when we go into the woods to check stands, set up cameras and get the land ready for hunting season. My Grandpa has always told us that if we are in the woods we need to be quiet and that has always confused me because we were not actually hunting at that time. So I asked. He explained that we are invading the wildlifes home. If we start talking too much this could scare them away which would force them to leave and affect our hunting season.

With all this land deer and other wildlife are able to have a home of their own without the interruption of our modern day way of life. Hunting is a way that we can help control the deer population. This is important because deer are a part of the food chain. If deer become too populated in one area it can degrade the lard of what other animals may need or just simply what it needs to survive and have its natural beauty. When someone buys a hunting license they pay money for that. This money goes to the DNR of whichever state you choose to hunt in. The DNR then uses the money to help take care of the environment in bigger ways than just one person can.

So although hunting may not be fun to everyone it is a very enjoyable activity for my family and I. Through this activity that many people look over it is doing a lot of good for the environment and if more people hunted it would be a simple way of taking care of the world around us.
