      Don’t let the Bully Win

Before technology, bullying was something that happened in school, on playgrounds or on the school bus. To get away from bullying, you would go home. But because of technology, bullying has reached a horrible point. Getting away from bullying is much harder now. Bullying is now at school and at home. Social media has made it easier for bullies to hide behind a screen and hate on people without getting caught as easily. Bullying now happens on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Ask.fm. It’s impossible to get away from it when it’s all around you.
Our generations is all about social media and technology. Bullying has never been easier. You can make a fake profile and bully anyone you want to without anyone knowing it’s you. Cyber bullying increases more and more each year. According to CyberBullyHotline, there were 4,507 cases of cyber bullying in 2012 alone. I think another reason cyber bullying has increased is because the people who do it, are hiding behind a screen, which makes it easier to bully. They think what they are saying is okay because it’s not face to face.
Bullying can affect a person in a lot of ways. It can make a person feel horrible about themselves and about life. Bullying can go from making someone feel like crap to making them hate life so much they don’t want to live anymore. According to CDC, 4,400 suicides happen per year just because of bullying. It is the third leading cause of death for young people. Why would you want to make someone’s life so bad that they don’t want to live anymore? Calling someone ugly won’t make you pretty, calling someone stupid won’t make you smart. Making someone feel bad shouldn't make you feel good. Think before you act, think twice before you speak.
People who are affected by bullying seem to keep to themselves a lot which is hard for others to know what they are going through. If you see someone getting bullied weather is online or in person, please do something about it. How would you feel if you were the one being bullied? Nobody deserves to feel like they have no one on their side. If you see it happening, there's many ways you can help. Like talking to a parent, teacher, or even you yourself could help. Don’t be a bystander, don’t let the bully win.
