Have you ever wondered the effect that video games actually have on kids mental health? Well in this informational essay I'll tell you how video games affect kid’s lives and mental health. I will also be talking about how video games help veterans and people with disabilities. The reason this matters is because a lot of people get the wrong idea about video games because they don’t know about the good things video games have done for people.

Video games positively affect children's mental health by lessening their stress and depression levels and raising their grades. Multiple studies and scientists said that kids who play video games have less depression and higher happiness rates. The studies also showed that kids who used social media more had a higher depression score. The kids who they interviewed/studied said that while they were playing video games they felt happy. Another study showed that kids who played video games have less chances of doing drugs and getting into crime. This information came from oxford,Isabella granic phd, and students who play video games on a normal basis.

The other benefits of video games is that it helps kids with disabilities socialise and interact on equal grounds with people who don’t have disabilities. Video games also help veterans with ptsd and injuries one vet who was interviewed said:"I have pain in the lower part of my body. It feels like my limbs are on fire," "The more I'm distracted, the more that pain tends to go away."

Video games may have many benefits but it is still good to take 1hr breaks in between playing. Another benefit of playing video games is that it raises children's grades. This is because it lessens a child's stress that is caused by school and homework (I know this from personal experience and from research). Video games have also helped kids stay entertained during the covid pandemic. Video games can also increase your spatial iq (your ability to see 3d objects and complex shapes). Another thing that video games do for kids is that it keeps them socially active because most games you have to work with other people to win and this may also require you to talk to your team through voice chat. The end.
