Don't Be Afraid, It's Only The Dark
Lucy, a brunette 10 year old girl with blue eyes, and her parents are sitting at home, watching TV. Her dad gets a call from his boss saying he has a client dinner to go to. He and his wife get ready to leave, but they have to leave Lucy home. Once they give Lucy hugs goodbye and tell her the “Don’t open the door for anyone” lecture, they leave. It’s not Lucy’s first time being home alone, but it’s her first time in the new house. They moved in two days ago. So Lucy isn’t quite used to the house yet.
She sits there watching TV, but she gets interrupted. She hears the basement door open. Something whispers “Lucy” with a sing-songy tone to it. She’s frozen, she can’t move. Lucy slowly gets up and closes the basement door, she locks it and puts a chair in front of it. Lucy runs upstairs, but halfway up the stairs, she hears the chair slowly begin to move. She stops and looks behind her. She hears the lock unlock, the basement door flies open and something screams “Lucy I know where you’re going! I’ll come get you if you don’t get down here!”
Lucy runs up the stairs and hides in a closet. She hears something on all fours slowly make its way up the stairs. “Lucy, come out, come out wherever you are!” It raged. Lucy covers her mouth. It walks over to the closet, but stops. It walks away and goes into Lucy’s room. Lucy runs downstairs and into the basement, that was a bad idea. Lucy hears something fall, its pitch black so she doesn’t know what it is. She runs back up the stairs, but something wet, cold, and slimy grabs her ankle. She gets loose and runs up the stairs, she closes the door behind her. Her power goes out, things start moving, and she hears things crawling around. She stands in the middle of the room. She hears a voice behind her, “Don’t be afraid, it’s only the dark.” It snarls. It grabs Lucy, the basement door opens and it pulls her down. She’s screaming, the door closes and the screaming quiets. The house is silent.
Her parents come home, Lucy isn’t there. They look everywhere, but after awhile, they find her body in the basement. She’s covered in blood, scratches on her face, her skin ripped off, with a note that says “It was only the dark…”
