Starving
This story is about a young boy who lives in Ghana. Ghana is often known as a rich, growing prosperous country in Africa. This is where young Enzokuhle Firash grew up; rich with a luxurious lifestyle. But the strange fact is that although Enzo’s parents were well off, he refuses to eat anything anyone serves him. No matter what his parents gave him he just wouldn’t eat anything, almost as if he’s afraid to eat.
Unsure, but his parents believed that his phagophobia first sprouted from when his older brother, Adom, gave him a disgusting meal last year. Adom thought it’d be funny to collect a bunch of cockroaches he found crawling around and grind them into a paste. He then added some water and a few vegetables, and the cockroach stew he created. The moron served the soup to Enzo with delight, rubbing his hands together as the spoon approached Enzo’s lips. The moment Enzo tasted the soup, he vomited profusely.
Afterwards, Enzo fell extremely ill and was hospitalized for a week. After this traumatic event for Enzo, he’s hated his brother and has been scared to touch any meal prepared by anyone ever since. Over time, Enzo got scrawnier and scrawnier until you could see his ribs. At this point, Enzo’s family gave up on him and moved away, leaving to rot in the remains in his old home.
A few months later, a few of Enzo’s old neighbors decided to inspect the now abandoned house. When they entered the house they could’ve sworn they heard these words being repeated over and over: “Starving, starving.” In Enzo’s bedroom they found the husk of his body left curled up on the bed. After discovering the gruesome sight, the neighbors contacted the police. They tried to get in contact with Enzo’s family, but to no avail. It seemed like all traces of them were wiped out.
To this day, Enzo’s neighbors will always remember the charming little boy Enzo was and hope he’s doing well wherever he is. As for the rest of Enzo’s family, well… the entire family were found dead living in a beachside home in Senegal. People believe the spirit of Enzo is responsible for those demons’ deaths. Perhaps he wanted his family to rot just like he did; husks rotting away in a cold, dark, and empty house just like his parents left him in. Though, I worry if Enzo is still starving even now in the afterlife. Forever starving that boy may be.
