The walls appeared to be brown from the years of smoke taking residence over the vibrant green wallpaper below. With a touch of a finger, the brown coffee table in the middle of the living room revealed itself to be made of glass. The matching 70s loveseat and couch perched in front of the broken TV were the most charming elements of the complex. Above the shattered glass hung a family portrait; three children, seemingly a few years apart, all boys, kneeled under two parental figures. Closer towards the bedroom, a foul aroma became more pungent with each step. A styrofoam container with the words, Orient Garden on top held the culprit of the fatal smell. Had to be at least a month old meal of pad thai. Further into the room, trekking through the obstacles of dirty clothes and McDonald's wrappers, a metal lockbox stuck out underneath the bed. Upon further inspection, the metal lockbox seemed to be not so locked. It appeared to be broken open, almost inviting a stranger to open it. Skin against the cold metal, the silver top revealed a bloody knife. The pieces began to add up. An empty home left in a wreck. A bloody knife poorly hidden. A murder. A secret so grim and horrendous, so foul and evil, but what is more terrifying; a murderer on the loose.
