Strands of Memory
Liliana's sleeping gown certainly looked ordinary, and to the unimaginative mind perhaps it was. To Liliana, however, it was a dream gown. Every night before she slipped under her downy comforter embroidered with the stars and moon, Liliana would put on her best dream gown. The iridescent robe collected her dreams as she dozed, and in the morning they could be seen swirling in the folds of fabric. Liliana would carefully deliver the dream gown to the Dream Collectors/Recorders/Interpreters (that was their official title), who devoted their life to preserving and speculating on the precious strands of subconscious memory. You see in Liliana’s homeland, dreams were priceless. They were considered the only awareness into a person’s true self, and it would be the highest offence to let one slip away, unnoticed, without so much as a backward glance.
