The Mysterious Ghost Neighbors

It was a dark and stormy night in our old, run-down cottage in the middle of the woods. A door creaked as it pushed itself open. I stared into the dark hallway as I walked towards my little brother’s room. My family was sound asleep all except my brother Kyle. I saw the ghost who lived next door. Something was up. Things like this never happened in my house. I heard a strange, rustling noise coming from my garage. The door was closed. I was sure of it.
“Kyle! Did you hear the rustling in the garage?” I yelled.
“No, I don't hear a thing. I did see the curtains shifting next door though.” He replied
“So you think something is wrong too?”
“Yes, that house gives me the creeps.” He shivered with fear.
“Do you want to come with me and figure out this mystery?”
“That sounds like a bad idea.”
“Come on, it'll be fun finding out what is wrong with this town and our ghostly neighbors.”
“OK, FINE SO YOU WILL STOP NAGGING ME!” Yelled Kyle
We tiptoed across the yard and jumped the fence. Somehow we walked straight through the door. Were we ghosts too? My brother picked up a magic 8 ball and said “If I were an animal what would I be?” He whispered. The ball fell to the ground and shattered like a glass ball.
His hands turned orange and his body became scaly and green. The worst thing yet was that he was as tiny as a mouse. I heard him croak multiple times. He was a FROG??? I had to keep exploring to save him. I took a step as I fell into a dark hole. There was no way out. I dug in my pockets, but my phone was no longer there. How was I supposed to see without the flashlight on my phone? I felt the walls for a sign of doors and secret passages. After hours of searching I found a button on the wall. It said DANGER, but I decided to touch it anyway as it was my only way out. Pieces of the wall started crumbling. Neon lights blinded me. I found what looked like an old diner. A sign read SCI FRY DINER. I walked in slowly as silhouettes of monsters, dinosaurs, and giant spiders roamed the halls. Some ghouls walked around with chocolate cupcakes. Strange creatures kept asking me if I wanted them, but I couldn’t resist.
A silhouette who looked like Frankenstein yelled “Head over to the Sleeping Camp where all your dreams will come true. You must get some rest to fix up your appearance in the morning. I didn't think anything of it, so I walked into the door that read SLEEPING CHAMBERS. I was too tired that night from all the cupcakes. All I read was SLEEPING CAMP, so I thought everything was normal. I hopped into the bed and drifted off to sleep. I heard some rustling in the corner. It must be rats I thought to myself. It turns out it was my mysterious ghost neighbor who must have bumped into a control that turned the bed into a coffin. I slept until dawn, but when I woke up something felt different. I no longer had two legs. They now had eight legs. I was as dark as charcoal and had black fur all over my body. I was humongous. I couldn’t believe what had happened to me. Kyle was nowhere to be found and I was a giant insect.
I climbed the walls. I was never able to do that before. My legs creaked on the kitchen floor. I grabbed some flour to catch the ghost. The containers of sugar stuck to me as well. Chairs crashed to the floor. I ran to the bedroom where the ghost always watched us from our house. I tried to stay quiet and blend in with the brick walls. I spewed webs across the floor, climbed up, and covered the door in webs.I threw flour and sugar into the web. If something tried to get in it it would get caught in the webs. I used my disadvantage as an advantage. Becoming a spider only helped me, but I wouldn't let it stop me.
I waited for hours, but later that night I heard voices and curtains swaying in the light. It was halloween night. Something was coming. I could feel it. Something lit up behind the curtains, but it was dark as night. I knew something was wrong. I climbed the walls again as I tore up the curtains. Glowing mirrors appeared. People were stuck inside them. My brother, children and teenagers wondered what was up with this place. There I was in human form and here I stood as a spider. I wanted myself back. I wasn’t strong enough to break the glass and let myself free. There was a broomstick in the corner. I violently batted at the mirror with the broomstick.
“Stop that right now! What do you think you are doing? You cannot escape these souls” moaned the ghost who was now stuck in the spiderweb I had created.
I ignored him and kept hitting the mirror violently. I couldn’t speak like a spider. Each hit gave him less and less power. It made him uglier and uglier. He looked worse each time and his ghostly appearance became old and his skin became red. I kept breaking the glass. My brother was no longer a frog. He was himself again. Many children and teenagers were confused and didn’t know where they were. The children joined in and broke the glass themselves and helped me escape the old souls. The ghost continued to moan. He now had no power, since we had broken all the glass. He was now stuck in the spiderweb, dead as a doornail. Bombs shot up from the basement in smoke. As everyone appeared back at their homes. As our neighbor’s house disappeared in the smoke. The spirits vanished into thin air. All the lost souls were in their homes again.
