Alone in the Sand
The air was still beneath the shimmering reflection from the moonlight on the water. He did not move. He just continued kneeling on the sand before her, gazing up into her wide, crystal blue eyes. She remained still with her hands over her mouth. The only movement was a tear that snuck out of her right eye. That precious moment in time, that perpetual love, that momentous question he had just asked. His heart began to race as he anticipated an answer. His hands became sweaty and shaky, and all he could do was stare into those beautiful, blue eyes. She also felt her heart race. She became pale. “I…I can’t” She stumbled away, leaving him alone in the sand.
