Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away lived a royal family. They were not known for their wealth or gold, but for their daughter. They were known for their Eleanor. Her mesmeric features where defined by her cerulean eyes, long brown silky hair, and her bronze skin. Her face structure was so impeccable that the myth of her face being carved by angles could not possibly be a lie. Her beauty didn’t stop upon the flesh on her bones, but in the depths of her heart. But sadly everyone, including her parents, looked past her intelligence and kindness. They believed listening to her was a waste of time; just looking at her was enough to make them love her.

Eleanor’s kindness would sometimes lead her to foolishness. She couldn’t hate others who loved her, even if it was just for her beauty. But, her heart longed for love, someone who would risk not having the light of day for a year just to be with her for a day, and someone who was willing to look past her beauty and into her soul.

On warm spring day Eleanor was getting ready for the arrival of the guests that her parents informed her about. Walking down the stairs to the living room Eleanor heard familiar voices. Knowing it was the king and queen of the Kingdom of Kiwin Eleanor plastered a smile on her face and walked in. King James and Queen Isabella were very close friends of Eleanor’s parents. After the greetings an unfamiliar young man walked in. Eleanor had to pinch herself to make sure she was not dreaming. He was breath taking. No, “breath-taking” was an understatement.

After talking to one another during dinner, Eleanor found out his name was Nicolas. Nicolas enjoyed traveling and discovering new places, and meeting people of different cultures and backgrounds. When King James decided to leave, Eleanor was disappointed; she didn’t want Nicolas to leave. After getting into bed for a peaceful sleep, Eleanor couldn’t get herself to stop from thinking about Nicolas’s warm brown eyes, or daring personality. “Is this what you call love?” thought Eleanor.

Eleanor and Nicolas have been spending a lot of time together since they first met for dinner several weeks ago. “I love you”, said Nicolas, while they were walking in the garden. “Why?” asked Eleanor. “Eleanor you are kind, respectful, intelligent, fun, and beautiful. What is there not to love?” replied Nicolas. Eleanor was speechless. No one had ever described her as Nicolas did. Just beauty. Eleanor was only beauty, but Nicolas saw more. “I love you, too”, said Eleanor.

The day after, Eleanor woke up with a startle. “WAKE UP ELEANOR! WAKE UP!” cried one of the maids. “What is the matter?” asked Eleanor, while tossing and turning in bed. “There are invaders attacking the kingdom and they won’t leave until they get you!” replied the maid in a hustle. “Me?” asked Eleanor in pure confusion. “Well, of course! Look at yourself Eleanor you are absolutely breath taking! Now come on; the king ordered us to go to the underground escape tunnel at once”, said the maid, whiling pushing Eleanor out her bedroom door.

But it was too late; the invaders have gotten into the castle and were running towards Eleanor. There was no time to run; they had grabbed Eleanor and started running. “HELP! HELP!” cried Eleanor, but no one was brave enough to help her. “Where is Nicolas?” thought Eleanor. “He said he would be sleeping in the bedroom down the hall. He would come for my help!” Even the thought of him saving her sparked a light in her fearful eyes.

Unfortunately, Eleanor’s cerulean eyes and long brown silky hair was never seen again. No one tried to save Eleanor from being kidnapped by the enemy, not even her true love, Nicolas. The maid who helped Eleanor out of bed the day of the invasion found Nicolas a day after hiding in a bedroom closet. She was utterly shocked to find him hiding instead of fighting for his dear Eleanor. Instead of waiting for the maid’s comment Nicolas said, “She is not worth my struggle, because she was merely a soul, and nothing but pure beauty.”

Words that are spoken are not always true. They hold no verb nor action. After all they are only empty air.
