Once in a land far away there was a young prince, Atticus III; the heir to the emperor Atticus the II. He was tall with short brown hair, bright blue eyes, and freckles dotted perfectly on his tan skin. Atticus’s father was adamant on his marriage to the Princess of Olympia, but Atticus wants to fall in love. One fateful day, the king pushed the young prince too far. The prince fled the castle after a horrible argument; he headed to the lake, where he could get peace of mind.
Atticus sat on a fallen branch at the edge of the pond, gazing at the tadpoles swimming, the lily pads sitting perfectly on top of the water with their beautiful pink water lilies. A little green frog hopped from one lily pad to the other, until it got to the other side. Right in front of the charming prince. He stared at her in delight.
“Why you are such a cute thing, aren't you?” He smiled as he scooped it up in his hands, bringing the frog up to his eye level.
Just then a large fluffy orange and white cat jumped toward the prince and frog, hellbent on having the frogs’ juice legs for supper. Atticus covered the small green frog with his other hand, shielding it from the ferocious cat.
“For the love of St. Pete, Fluffy what are you doing!” he exclaimed as he waved his hand in the air at the cat, as he scurrys off.
He turned back to the small frog in his hand, “Hello!”
“Thank you!” the tiny frog ribbits in response.
He stared into her big, round, black eyes, “What was that?”
“I said thank you,” She stared back, not jumping this time, “I must repay you in some way!”
“You're merely a frog.” he scoffed at the tiny amphibian.
“Well if you have to know, I’m a princess, Princess Katherine II.”
“You're a frog.” He stared back, about to drop the little green frog.
“I can grant you any wish!” she squealed.
“Really!” he exclaimed with a new attitude.
“Yes!” She smiled, “ You just have to let me sleep on your pillow for a night!”
His smile faded to a frown, with an eye roll.
“That's so gross.”
“You want your wish granted?” She hops on his shoulder, “Let's go!”
Atticus begins to walk back to the castle, frog on shoulder.
. . .
At dinner Attiucs sneaks a chunk of ham, potato, and a small bite of bread into his pocket for his new found froggy friend.
“May I be excused Mother?” Atticus shoves his last bite of potato and ham in his already full mouth.
“Darling slow down you will choke.” She replies as Atticus returns up the stairs to his room.
Back in his room he takes the ham, potato, and bread laying it on his bed. As he throws himself on the bed the Frog Princess hops from the windowsill to the handsome prince's bed.
“Thank you, I'm starved!” She takes bites of the ham and bread savoring every flavor. When she's done she hops to the beige and gold decorative pillow right next to the
prince's. He lays his head down next to the frog, closing his eyes and slowly drifting to sleep.
. . .
The golden orange and pink sunrise shone through the prince's windows onto the gold sheets of his bed. Atticus slowly opens his eyes, rubbing them a little. As he sits up instead of seeing a frog on his pillow he sees a beautiful girl with warm skin and light freckles, her wavy blonde hair frames her golden face. She wears a golden slip dress with design embroidered in gold thread. She is the most beautiful woman Atticus has ever seen. I could fall in love with her. He thought to himself. Just as Atticus leans down to kiss her rosy pink lips she wakes up. Rather than pushing him away she closes her eyes and kisses him back. And they got married and lived happily ever after.
