We'll Meet Again, I Promise

A home was something she really never had. She never had a place where she could feel free to be completely herself. Except with him. Loving was something that never really came to her easily, but with him it seemed like she could learn it. Throughout their time together, he managed to show her that people actually did care for her, something that she tended to disagree with. It was small acts of kindness from him that brightened her day. Whether it be turning on a pot of tea or shutting the door when she fell asleep, those seemingly insignificant acts allowed her to see herself as something that wasn’t worthless.

But of course when one thing was going brilliant in her life, another thing had to go horribly wrong. The last time she saw him was two years ago. She watched him die, right there in front of her, and she wasn’t able to do anything. The warmth that he placed in her heart slowly hardened into ice, chilling her to the bone. No one had made her as happy as him, but when he was gone she knew that a part of her was gone as well.

She now lived alone. Too afraid to commit to anyone or anything else besides a job and a house. The days were long and the nights were filled with foggy nightmares of rejection. She would do anything to be back in his safe, warm, loving arms. She would do absolutely anything.

Of course they did meet again, year and years later. In the afterlife they rejoiced in each other, their hearts and souls complete again.
