"The loneliest people are the kindest, the saddest people smile the brightest, and the most damaged people are the wisest. All because they don't wish to see others suffer like they do."

A boy and a girl are standing on a beach. The girl is the daughter of the king, and it is almost time for her to take over as leader. The boy, who has fallen in love with the girl, has been banned from the kingdom because his parents committed treason. He will be forced to leave and is trying to convince the girl to follow him to paradise. However, the girl refuses, not because she doesn't love him but because she is choosing to claim responsibility for her kingdom.

He looked at her, and his eyes were full of tears. His hand reached out, tenderly taking her hand with gentle fingers.
"Come with me," he said. "Come with me and we shall be free."
She looked at him, the boy who had put his life up for hers, the boy who had shown her who she really was inside. She wanted to believe him so much, to curl up in his arms and let him carry her away to paradise. She wanted to let go, to run away, to disappear into the wind with him in her arms. But deep inside, she knew that she couldn't let go. She couldn't run away, even though her heart yearned to. This was her life. This was her destiny. And nothing could change that.
She looked back at him, her brown eyes meeting his silver ones. "No," she whispered. "I can't go. This is my life. I can't leave it behind. But my heart will go with you. My heart will always go with you."
He looked at her, the sadness in his eyes too much to bear. But he did not argue, only let go of her hand and turned away.
She watched him walk off into the distance and felt her heart break into a million pieces. But she had to stay here. She had a destiny to fulfill. And no matter how hard she longed it wasn't true, it wasn't with him.
She gazed back at him, only a tiny speck against the darkening sky.
"Goodbye, my love," she whispered. "We part today, with you going off to your destiny and me staying with mine. But I will always remember you."
Her voice cracked, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I will always love you."

This piece was just a short part of a book I want to write in the future. I felt that even though it occurs mid-story, it still holds a lot of meaning and I just wanted to try publishing it on it's own to see how it would come out.
