Jeff's Junior High
Jeff’s mother died of a severe cancer, on his birthday, November 12th, 2012. He felt like he just woke up from a nightmare, but everything was reality. After that day, his father barely would talk to him and just ignored him. Jeff woke up, and could hear the sound of his alarm. He picked up his bags and left for school. No one knew who Jeff was, he doesn’t talk to people. He only had one dear friend, called Joe. He has been through the ups and downs with him. Jeff had it hardest, he in the youngest grade of his private school, that went from grade 8 to 12. Everyday, the same 10th graders would come to them ask them for money. At lunch, three huge 10th graders walked up to them, they all wore black clothing with tattered blue jeans.
“Oh not you again, what do you want from us this time?” said Joe.
“I’m feeling kind of hungry, and you went to lend me some money?”
“Go get your own money, or go pick on some other kids” replied Jeff
“Do you really think I want to waste my precious time on other kids?”said the 10th grader.
The 10th graders grabbed Jeff up, smashed him onto the floor, and you can see blood coming down from his nose.
“You want to pay it up, before I smash you to pulp?”
“Why do you always have to result in violence” screamed Joe
“Do you want me to hurt you too? If not, you better shut up.”
Jeff threw the 5 dollars onto the floor.
“I’ll be back tomorrow for my next payment,"
As he walked away, Joe whispered to Jeff.
“Why do you keep letting him picking on you?”asked Joe
“I can’t handle those 10th graders, I’m just a boy who could barely even handle my own life.”
“Tomorrow we are going to do something about this. We are going to stand up for ourselves, we can’t keep getting thrown around like this. “said Joe
Jeff couldn’t sleep through that night. He kept thinking about how much is going to regret his decision, and thought that if he just kept paying them he would be unhurt.
That day at lunch, he saw the 10th graders walking closer and closer to him, and he could feel the shivers going down his spine. They made eye contact back, and you could see the huge smirk on his face. What was strange was that there was only one, and seems like the other two going to find some other kids to pick on.
“I’m back for my daily payment” said the 10th grader.
Jeff couldn’t speak a word, he was terrified. He felt like his mouth was covered with duct tape. Then he remembered about the words Joe said, that if he never stood up for himself, he would always be a victim for bullying.
“I’m not paying you this time, you always want to act powerful and mighty, so you pick on kids who no one knows about in your school. You may be unhappy in life, but you can’t take out your hatred on us.” said Jeff
He felt like he did the right thing. Maybe he talked some sense into the bully, and maybe they could just make up.
You could see that the 10th grader was actually thinking for once, and he just paused there.
“I’m really going to make you pay for what you just said, you’re really going to feel the pain that’s going to happen.”said the 10th grader
The 10th grader raised up his fist, and you could see a whole bunch of kids just circling around to see what’s going on. Then a loud whistle fired out in the back round, and you could see the principal, Mr. Steel and the assistant principal Ms. Sun walking through the crowd of people.
“What’s all this ruckus about!” said Mr Steel.
The 10th grader lowered his fist. He looked up at Mr Steel and looked at his stern face.
“I didn’t see the whole story, but I can see that you are trying to harm a boy who is two years younger than you are, could you explain this, Cody?” Ms. Sun
Jeff thought to himself, I never really knew his name until then, never really paid any attention.
“I……, Cody stuttered, then mumbled something. “He was talking trash to me about how I bad I looked”.
Jeff immediately knew that there was no way that the principal would believe, him and smirked. All bullies are always unconfident in themselves, and so most of them are lacking intelligence.
“Jeff, what’s your say in this fight that is occurring right now? asked Ms. Sun
Well basically, this 10th grader and a group of friends usually walk to up to us at lunch. They always ask for money, or they are going to attack us. Just simple blackmail. I thought I could be untouched if I just kept giving him money. But today I thought I would speak what I thought of him, and then it leads up to this point currently.
“That’s not true, you can’t just believe what he says!” Cody said. You could really see him cracking under pressure, his face was as red as a tomato, and his tone went louder and louder.
“Well, that is true that we can’t believe what Jeff says. But the only thing I can say is that a 8th grader wouldn’t be picking on a 10th grader, it’s their first year in this high school. He doesn’t want stress. Even if it was the case, you shouldn’t be resulting in violence.”said Mr. Steel
Now the case is closed, everyone get back to class, Cody and I are going to have a talk about what’s going to be done.
Joe walked up to me, and smiled.
“I told you stand up for yourself was the right thing, he will probably never come back to bother you.”said Joe
“I’m glad I took your advice. Thank you for calling the principal.. Without you, this would have never happened.”replied Jeff
Jeff felt like he finally won against the war against bullies. He overcame his fear and Cody finally got his judgement. After that day, Cody never talked or made eye contact with him ever again. Jeff can finally eat his lunch without having fear in his mind, and now can enjoy his everyday.
